Council for the Registration of Osteopaths
Council for Osteopathic Registration of Cyprus.
The Council for Osteopathic Registration of Cyprus is the competent authority responsible for the registration and professional oversight of osteopaths in the Republic. Its primary mandate is to safeguard the public by ensuring that only appropriately qualified practitioners are permitted to practise osteopathy.
Ensuring proper qualifications
The Council evaluates applications for registration on the basis of defined educational and professional criteria. Applicants must demonstrate that they have completed recognised programmes of study, achieved a high standard of theoretical and clinical education, and fulfilled the required hours of supervised practical training.
Where qualifications have been obtained abroad or in systems where osteopathy is not regulated, the Council assesses equivalence and may request additional evidence, adaptation measures, or further training where necessary.
Maintaining high professional standards
Beyond initial registration, the Council promotes the maintenance of safe and effective practice. This includes expectations relating to:
professional ethics and conduct,
continuing competence,
adherence to regulatory requirements, and
cooperation with other healthcare professionals.
Through these mechanisms, the Council helps ensure that osteopathic services provided in Cyprus meet accepted standards of quality and patient care.
Protecting public health
By regulating entry to the profession and overseeing registrants, the Council contributes directly to public protection, transparency, and trust. Patients can be confident that a registered osteopath has met nationally defined requirements in education, training, and professional responsibility.
